'Off
the shelf' training and development solutions remain popular with
organisations. All too often, however, such initiatives fail to live up
to expectations because individuals do not translate their initial
development intent into subsequent action -
i.e. the implementation of action plans is weak. There are many reasons
for this and they can be grouped under three broad headings:

Individuals have not created
action plans that they personally feel motivated to achieve -
there is a lack of tangible benefit for them and their
organisation. |

A development idea, although
interesting and attractive, has not been formulated into an
action plan that is easily workable alongside the many other
priorities and demands that individuals feel driven to meet in
their typical work day. |

There is a lack of effective
follow-up and support for the individual as they progress with
implementation, and / or their line manager may not be fully
engaged with what the person is doing. |
At Perspectives we work closely with
clients to ensure individual development objectives are identified and
implemented effectively. There are two principal ways in which we do
this:
First, we prefer to provide training and development solutions that
offer the flexibility to be highly tailored to individuals'
styles and needs. As practising Occupational Psychologists we encourage
people to understand and apply their unique preferences and styles. A
lot of our work contains an experiential component, which allows people
to experience situations and try out alternative approaches. One-to-one
coaching is another particularly effective development intervention
because of the opportunity to focus on the individual - their goals,
actions and outcomes.
Second, we have co-founded 3Steps2Action, a brand new process that enables people to implement their personal development plans for individual and organisational benefit.

Executive Coaching
Coaching with Perspectives is about enabling individuals to implement strategies that lead to the achievement of important outcomes in their work and lives. The 1 to 1 coaching relationship is central to the effectiveness of coaching, and needs to contain the right level of support and challenge as people make decisions and take action. Coaching is often a preferred development method for effective senior executives, where there is pressure on interventions being time efficient, sophisticated, and highly tailored to the individual’s needs.

Development
Centres & Workshops
Development Centres provide a powerful
means for individuals to experience relevant work simulations, add to
their self insight, receive feedback, and identify specific development
points.
At Perspectives, our development centre
projects benefit from a high level of credibility, well integrated data
from different sources (e.g. simulations, psychometrics and 360),
insightful feedback and effective development planning.

Global
Development Centres
The contribution of well designed
development centres has been clearly shown in the diagnosis of
individuals' development needs. And yet, to date, there have been few
applications that can justly claim to be Global.
At Perspectives we offer proven
experience in making development centre programmes fair and relevant for
executives and professionals from different parts of the world. In order
to do this effectively, organisations needs to recognise, and respond
to, the fact that globalisation has implications far beyond the commonly
recognised issue of linguistic fluency. We have access to cross cultural
experts, who are available to work at design and / or implementation
stages.

Leadership
Development
Much has been written about the qualities
that underpin effective leadership in today's business world. It is
clear to us that leaders need to have developed a clear, cohesive
leadership self concept, and also that they have developed the
behaviours and strategies that enable them to be effective.
At Perspectives, our work with current
and aspiring leaders is designed to impact at both of these levels: We
help individuals to develop their self insight into the kind of leader
they are - the person underneath. We also work at the behavioural level,
helping people to understand and review the effectiveness of their
behaviours, across the range contexts within which they need to operate.
