Our Solutions - Assessment
Forming views about people in the
workplace is always complex, and subject to human bias. Where there is a
need for high quality data for decision making, and a need for a high
level of objectivity, selection and assessment processes benefit from
careful design, implementation and evaluation.
Perspectives Consultants are all fully
qualified Occupational Psychologists, with current practising
certificates, and accreditation to use a wide variety of psychometric
and other measures. Expertise really does count in assessment work - an
experienced, skilled practitioner can provide a very rich and insightful
assessment.
Many Consultants claim to tailor their
solutions - fewer deliver. We practice what we preach, taking time to
understand our clients' needs. And then we leverage our independent,
professional status, and our knowledge of the marketplace, to our
clients' advantage, recommending or designing whatever 'tools' are most
appropriate.
Perspectives offers the following
Assessment Solutions:
Assessment Centres
& Selection Events
The principles underlying high quality
assessment centres are now widely accepted and used in leading
organisations. They have a unique contribution to make to assessment
decisions about individuals' performance and potential, particularly
where target roles are different from candidates' experiences to date.
Perspectives
has been designing and
running competency based assessment centres since the late 1980's, and
continues to lead best practice.
Assessment centres are often set up for
repeated application, or for a large population. We also recognise that
small and medium sized enterprises can also benefit from this
technology, and may require a simpler process, for one-off use.

Global Assessment
Centres
The contribution of well designed
Assessment Centres has been clearly shown to improve the quality of
selection and assessment decisions. And yet, to date, there have been
few examples where assessment centre technology has been properly used
as a basis for making international appointment decisions, or in
assessing culturally diverse groups of candidates.
At Perspectives we offer proven
experience in making assessment centre programmes fair and relevant for
executives and professionals from different parts of the world. We
recognise that organisations who judge an individual's capability on the
basis of their linguistic fluency, or their professional / technical
skills, are likely to be overestimating some people's abilities, and
missing some of their most promising global leaders. Instead, we use
global competencies, and sophisticated methods to asses the right
attributes, in the right way. We have access to cross cultural experts,
who are available to work at design and / or implementation stages.

Individual Assessments
Key appointments are best supported by an
in-depth assessment of shortlist candidates' capabilities. In common
with assessment centre processes, individual assessments can include
various types of measures, so as to provide a detailed picture in the
target areas. Unfortunately, many practitioners have fallen into the
habit of using their own favourite measures, instead of continually
listening to their clients, and searching for the best 'tools for the
job.
Perspectives has continually pushed the
boundaries of this service area forward; offering clients tailored,
question led assessment report formats, providing comparative analyses
of shortlist candidates, using a range of measures to come up with well
integrated and insightful comments, and suggesting key areas for
follow-up investigation.

Assessment Skills
Training
Developing the skills of objective
assessment is at the heart of designing and implementing effective
assessment processes.
Delivering assessment skills training
programmes is an integral part of assessment centres that use in-house
assessors. Perspectives also delivers these programmes as 'stand alone'
events, developing individuals' skills in one or more assessment
contexts. These programmes can be set up to run for HR or management
groups. We have successful experience of delivering training up to, and
including, plc main board level.
Perspectives also offers practical,
skills based training in related areas such as interviewing skills,
assessment / development centre design, and performance management
skills.

Assessment Consultancy
Often the HR skills and resources already
exist within a business to implement effective assessment processes.
Perspectives can perform a pure consulting role, for example,
evaluating current practices and recommending improvements, or in
setting up selection processes to be run in-house. This consultancy area
extends to performance management and appraisal systems, where we can
advise on all aspects of system design and implementation.
